Chevrolet Aveo

chevrolet-aveoThe Aveo is GM India’s entry-level sedan under the Chevrolet brand. It is a handsome car that is well equipped with premium levels of comfort and refined powertrains. Competitively priced to take on the Ford Fiesta and the premium Honda City, the Aveo offers smart and bold styling. It has terrific road presence and the option of two engines. Powering the Aveo is a choice of 1.4L and 1.6L engines; both Double Overhead Camshaft (DOHC) with Variable Geometry Induction System (VGIS), which optimises air intake to ensure consistency in power and torque delivery.

The 1.6L engine produces 101 bhp and 147 Nm of torque; while the 1.4L outputs 93 bhp and 127 Nm of torque. Both engines are combined to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The Aveo sedan certainly scores in this respect as styling is courtesy the best in the business. When plans for the sedan version of the Chevrolet Aveo (or the Daewoo Kalos) were drawn up, the design brief from General Motors was influenced by none other than the legendary Bob Lutz, a manager renowned for his feel for ‘just right’ designs. Classic Cars – Aston Martin DB5

The Aston Martin DB5 is an icon of the British car industry, and has been immortalised in history thanks to its appearance in several James Bond films. Launched in 1963, it is a British classic and almost half a century later it remains Aston Martins most famous car. The DB series was in fact named after David Brown who was the head of Aston Martin from 1947 through to 1972, and the sleek styling along with the cars success is a credit to himself and his team of stylists and engineers.

The car driven by Sean Connery in Goldfinger, which was the DB5’s first appearance in a James Bond film was actually also the original DB5 prototype. Infamously, this car is currently missing having been stolen from the last genuine owner in Florida during 1997. Let’s hope he had some quality classic car insurance in place! After appearing in Goldfinger, DB5’s went on to appear in Thunderball, GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies and Casino Royale. It was also to appear in The World is not enough as a cameo role, although the scene didn’t make the final cut. (more…)
